Yee Sang

Chinese New Year is one of the most blissful celebrations any Chinese (in case anyone says I'm racial =p) -one could ever anticipate every year. Food is the best and the best among them is the legendary 'Yee Sang'!

'Yee Sang' is a Chinese dish made up of a colourful variety of sliced vegetables, nuts and (some) salmon, topped with honey. It is arranged accordingly and neatly. Like it's looks, the manner of devouring this dish is also unique. Since the point of having this dish is to indicate prosperity and luck in the coming year, everyone are required to toss the food as high as possible while shouting "four letter words" (the Chinese proverbs that has only four characters and means anything good).

Let me show you how it's done through narrations of the two Yee Sang sessions I had with my high school juniors and my extended paternal family members during this festive season.

This is how it looks like when it was served

Add in the crackers!

Let the Toss begin...

Toss ARGH!!!!!!!!!
This is better than 'Yum Sing"!

Those toss outside this plate are more than what's left in it -__-
