Barack Obama for America

I watched the 30 minutes video for his campaign. I didn't agree with him spending so much money for this but after watching it, I truly believe this is money well spent. He proposes clear practical steps of what he will do as president of America. Even though I'm not an American citizen, I am truly impressed by this man: Barack Obama.

Watch it, it will be a 30 minutes well spent.

The Mini Skirt

...that belongs to Heather. So sweet of her to lend it to me ^_^ It's for Karmen's party on Saturday night. I'm wearing it with a formal top, tights and my black shoes. Will need to get a tie.

Now I don't have to worry about outfit. The only problem is the cold. The weather is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo cold.

Halloween is just round the corner. Everyone is having dress up parties. There's a zombie party at Market Square. I'm going out with Shuv, Sek Hao (her bf) and friends to celebrate Sek Hao's birthday. It's going to be a great night!

Therefore, I must finish my Opinion and Defence + Counterclaim by tomorrow. I'll be really busy on Saturday because I volunteered for the National Pro Bono conference. Free lunch! :D

Blissful Sin

I had a super supper right after dinner. Dinner was fried potatoes + cabbages + tomatoes + garlic + soy sauce. It was not good. I was thinking of making potatoes + chicken + soy sauce but minus the chicken and add in more vegetables. But I learnt that hard way that it doesn't work :(

Anyway, right after that, Karmen ordered chinese takeaway. I finished both the prawn crackers and fries. OMG, gluttony is the way to go! I also had a glass of coke and two glasses of wine. So I'm all warm and fuzzy now, hehehe... I'm so stuffed I feel like my stomach is going to burst.

Prawn Crackers, how I miss thee!

Fries are addictive

I'm gaining weight already. NOOOOOOOooooo...

Holiday

I love holidays. Doing nothing. Surfing around, watching videos and talking to friends and family. It's such a cold day today. The sudden drop of temperature is so unbearable. I went out to Market Square for awhile just now and it was so freezing cold that my ears hurt. I need ear muffs for sure. I'm going to look for a good cheap pair. Recommendations anyone?

I'll be going for a Karmen's uniform birthday party this Saturday night. Because of the theme, I'm borrowing Heather's mini skirt. I'll be wearing the tights I bought from Thailand (with Lyssa ^_^). I'm worried I might freeze to death. Hopefully I don't fall sick.

I've still got a lot to read up for the Opinion and I haven't started on the Defence. Both of them are due on Monday. No time to fool around anymore :( It's the end of Wednesday already. Time flies when you're enjoying life doing nothing.

Cold Weather

What a lovely unproductive day!

I did very little today. I did some research online but managed to get only a handful of cases, which might not even be that relevant in the end. At 5.30pm, I went to the library and stayed there till 9pm. Didn't really do much because there's so much to read. I'm a bit confused about the subject matter at the moment. I photostated some pages which I think should be relevant but I'm still not sure how my Opinion is going to be.

Note to Self
I've looked in these areas:
  • Acceptance of a contract
  • Usual terms and condition
  • Waiver
  • Delivery
  • Unfair Contract Terms
  • Sale by sample
Areas I need to look at:
  • Rights of Third Party (whether client can sue the deliveryman)
  • Remedies
I think the list should be longer. Shuv is coming back tomorrow. I definitely need some help here. I'm so lost... There's a talk at 12.15pm tomorrow by the Director of Public Prosecution in regards to Opportunities and Challenges in the Crown Prosecution Service. I'm quite interested to hear about it. It's going to be hard to join though...too many applicants, too few vacancies. After that, I think I'm going to be in the library with Shuv. It's going to be a long and challenging day tomorrow~

Joining the Church Events

I thought today was going to be as uneventful as yesterday but turned out God has His plans! I went to the 6pm mass today. It was raining but I left the umbrella at home. It was so cold that my lips were numb.

Arrived at St Barnabas Cathedral slightly drenched. Mass was very interesting today because there were about 6 priest at the altar. So grand wei~ Especially during the blessing of the bread, all the pairs of hands praying over the bread and wine. It feels different.

The final song was great: Shine, Jesus Shine! Lovely song to dance and sing out loud. The only downside is that they play it too slow. I'd love it faster and livelier. Nonetheless, I enjoyed it.

After mass, there's were booths set up by various ministries. I decided to have a look to see if there's anything I could join. I saw something about Peace and Justice. Signed up for that. And one more thing that I've always wanted to do: Altar Servers!!!!!

Yes everyone, I've joined the Altar Servers. They needed people for the 11.15am High Mass and I volunteered for it. I'll be going there next week. *excited* I remember when I was in Sunday School, when our teachers asked us to write down any questions about the church that we wanted to clarify, I wrote: Why aren't there girls serving as altar servers?

Now, I finally have a chance to fulfill my long lost dream. So, hopefully during Christmas, when sis and Bf are here, you'll be able to see me up there :D

Guilty

I've been doing nothing at all yesterday except watch videos, dramas and movies online. Too lazy! My plan for today is to vacuum my room, buy some groceries at Tesco and go to church at 6pm. Hopefully it won't be so cold today.

The daylight saving thing is very interesting. It's great to have an extra hour to waste spend.

Hopefully, I'll finish reading the briefs for an Opinion and tomorrow I'll go over to the library for research. Argh, I want to just laze around but I want to finish my work at the same time. Can I have more daylight savings?

Bf's Article

Bf wrote an article for Brats in The Star. He's so excited about it. It's an interview about Muiz aka Rex, who's working as a deejay in Lite FM. He's also Bf's good friend. Quite an interesting read.

I'm just going to link it here for my own reference in future. Goodnight peeps!

Night Out @ Nottingham

I just came back from the BVC Social Night. Reading Week starts tomorrow. There's no classes next week, it's holiday! *woohoo* I need a break and a good rest. A group of BVC students organised a night out at Horn in Hand. Many of us went although there are a large number of students who weren't there that night.

I was hoping to make more new friends yet determined not to spend money buying drinks. Based on my experience during the first night out, I've also decided not to go pub hopping because it will be too late and dangerous to go home alone. And as you may all know, I can be quite stubborn and so all the above mentioned were achieved. *proud of myself* :p

I put on eye liner for the night, does it make a difference?

Since I don't drink, the next best thing to do, besides "shouting" to each other, is cam whore! I didn't take as many pictures as I would like to but here are some pictures I took with my course mates.

This is Mike. He uses Spiderman's name as his facebook name.

This is Sally. She emailed me asking whether I want to share a house with her before I came to UK. I was interested till I found Goldsmith Court. So, we almost stayed together.

Miltos (left) and Lambros (I don't know how to spell his name sorry) are from Cyprus. Miltos is in my group during small sessions. Lambros is his friend doing accounting. They speak Greek!

Crystal, the only other female in my group, who writes great Opinions.

Dave and Doireann (pronounced as "Duh-rum", she's from Northern Ireland)

Curt from my group, who loves Celine Dion to bits! XD

Thomas (middle) and Ollie who were posing randomly because they don't like taking pictures.

Me, Ollie, Jennie and Mike

I walked back with Miltos and Lambros. Miltos lives near my place. He's really a gentleman :D Takes good care of me :) I had a good night out. No money spent and knew more people from the course. Mission accomplished! :D

ps: Nush and Shuv, you guys have to join in the fun next time!

Defeat & Rise Again

I hate feeling like this and I dislike rambling on how bad I am. All I want to say and remind myself is that it's not the end of it, it's either I try again and do better or I fail miserably. I definitely do NOT want it to be the latter. I need to be conscious of what I am doing, get my feet up and sharpen my thoughts. Stop indulging in self pity and stand up strong. No one can help me except myself. Get it over with!

Random Antique Typewriter

While walking around the Market Square one day, I came across this interesting piece of antique typewriter. The last time I saw something similar was in my dad's office. I wonder if he still has it or even using it. Hmm...

I don't think I want to buy it even if it's for sale

I prefer modern technology thank you. Nice decoration though. Reminds me of a cash machine that looks almost as old as this in one of the bookshops in Malaysia. And that antique cash machine was still in working order. Some old things last longer than the new ones.

Nigerian Dinner and Salami Sandwich

As you may all have realised by now, I cannot cook and I honestly mean it when I say so. I don't even bother cooking properly most of the time. Yes, I enjoy good food but cooking is just not fun.

Lunch is sandwich most of the time. Sometimes I wake up late and had to run without breakfast, I will then have brunch (muesli and milk). I had been putting ham and tomato slices for my so-called-sandwich. Then I will have one extra slice of strawberry jam bread, just for the taste actually.

But I got sick of ham. I've been taking it for a month. This week, I got a pack of salami. My first experience of eating salami was when sis and I were cycling in Aran Island (Ireland). There were no restaurants along the way. We packed some french bread and salami for lunch. We sat on the stone walls facing the sea enjoying the simple lunch.

That's where we stopped for lunch. We sat there enjoying lunch and the lovely view.

With the fond memories of salami topped with affordable price, I decided to buy salami for my sandwiches. I also bought cucumbers :) The cucumbers in UK are different from the ones we have at home. The cucumbers here look a lot like japanese cucumbers but fatter. And they don't have the bitter taste we get from cucumbers back home. I love the cucumbers here.

So, here we are: my new sandwich

Lightly toasted bread, a slice of salami, slices of tomatoes and cucumber

I love my sandwich. Friends advice me to put some mayonnaise but I don't quite like it. I might need a new recipe when I am sick of this. Hope this can last long.

I tried making fried rice yesterday. My flatmate (Titi - Room 3) said it looked nice. Unfortunately, the taste wasn't. It was tasteless. I didn't want to put the fried rice packet because I was stingy. Regret.

Cabbage, celery, capsicum, carrots, corn, mushrooms, garlic and rice

Conclusion: I shouldn't have added in cabbage and celery. Spoilt the taste. I should add in salt and tomatoes. Lesson learnt the hard way. Leftovers are still in my fridge.

Looking happy before eating. That happiness didn't last long.

I had a guest lecture at 5pm today. When I came back, Titi was cooking. I helped her and contributed some tomatoes and corn. Cooking with someone who knows what she's doing is quite fun. She cooked the chicken with curry powder, chili, chicken stock and thames. The rice was cooked with the same formula plus tomato puree. The outcome was delicious!

As you can see, we had a wonderful Nigerian dinner :D

Fish and Chips @ Moulin Rouge

Shuv, Chris, Ben and I went for Fish and Chips last Thursday at Moulin Rouge. It was excellent! The weather is gradually getting colder as autumn begins and it's beginning to be unbearable. The best cure is HOT food!

We decided to try out this new place by the name of Moulin Rouge. It is situated just behind Trinity Square. Unfortunately I forgotten to take a picture of the shop front. Just as we stepped into the restaurant, a surge of warmth air wrapped around us. Great thanks to the Kebab oven :D I enjoyed standing inside and waiting for my food, it's so warm~

We all ordered the same thing, except different sauces with the chips. Shuv and Chris had curry whereas Ben and I had gravy. The Mini Fish and Chips we ordered was only 3 pounds, and it's no where near "mini".

Look, Kebab! The oven works much better than the heater in my room.

Sausages, chips (actually it's fries), fried fish etc.

Generous portion of fat chips topped with hot gravy and a piece of fish

We sat at a square in front of the shop. Camwhore before the sinful indulgence :D

Starbucks Friday

For the month of October, Shuv and I will buy a copy of The Guardian at the Student Union for 30 pence. Why? Because there's a voucher in the newspaper, which gives out FREE expresso based drink at Starbucks! There's two more Friday to go before October ends :D

I had Venti (large) Caramel Macchiato on the first Friday and White Coffee Mocha last Friday. I'm still pondering which one to get this coming Friday. Heart Starbucks!

Lots of people queuing for free drinks

Lovely evening for a nice cup of Starbucks coffee

Shuv's iced latte

My Caramel Macchiato

Add more chocolate powder and sugar

My first Starbucks drink @ Nottingham

Nottingham Law School Postgraduate Open Day

I registered to help out as a student ambassador for the Nottingham Law School Postgraduate Open Day. It was great work because I was well fed and paid for. I also love it because I get to meet lots of new people and talk to them, something I enjoy doing very much.

All student ambassadors were required to arrive at Belgrave building (beside Goldsmith Court) at 9am. We were assigned various stations and duties: bringing prospective students for tours, attending stalls and guide them when they arrive. I then proceed to have the 6 different freshly baked pastries, 2 glasses of orange juice and a cup of tea for breakfast. It was heavenly~ I didn't take any pictures because I thought it was inappropriate to do so :( And also the fact that I was very hungry.

Basically, I was assigned to bring prospective students (especially those who have an interest in BVC) to Taylor building and introduce the course to them. It is very interesting because whatever I wrote in my application to do the BVC in Nottingham came in handy, for once. I do enjoy my course here and I find this place to be a great place to pursue the BVC.

Lunch time was around 1.30pm. I had burger (pork meat and stuffings) with unlimited salad. It was wonderful! I was so satisfied by the time I finished my food and I thought it's so worth coming for the Open Day :D Then at about 2.30pm, I had an apple with a cup of cuppochino for tea break. Isn't it a great day?

I also made friends with a few LPC and BVC students. I enjoyed the new company and it's nice having more friends :) I went to Tesco and bought a loaf of bread and 2 pint of milk with Vruti, who stays near me. On the way back, I met Mike who invited me to Starbucks for a short chat. I went over to look for Huw, who was in the library and we spent an hour at Starbucks talking with Mike. That's when they both decided I talk a lot.

I didn't spend money in Starbucks :) I'll be buying bananas tomorrow for next week. I love bananas for now. It's a cheap fruit, rich in nutrients I desperate need. It's also the best substitute for breakfast when I'm running late for classes.

I'm attending the 11.15am mass at St Barnabas tomorrow morning. Then, I'll be having dinner at Nush's place in the evening. Chris (Nush's best pal), who stays where I am staying, will be walking with me so it will be very safe. It's going to be a wonderful dinner with friends :)

Therefore, conclusion is: stop blogging and typing rubbish! Get on with work or I won't be able to get them done by tomorrow evening! But first, goodnight my friends. I miss you all.

Ridiculous

Malaysia is getting ridiculous, even journalists are going nuts. What's wrong with the writer? What is the Utusan Malaysia newspaper editor doing? Why threaten the YB (parliamentarian) who is fighting for all of us, Malays and non Malays alike? If he/she wants to kill her, don't join the press, join Al-Qaeda. If you don't like how the oppositions fight for us, join BN. Don't keep barking in the press.

To read the threat, click here for English version and here for the original version. The threat is written in a fiction story about the assassination of a YB. I must agree the journalist is very creative but unfortunately in the wrong way.

As Chris said, some newspapers are just rubbish.

Mooncake

A mooncake neither looks like a moon nor taste like a cake. It's a special dessert Chinese have to celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival. It's made out of Lotus Seed Paste and most of them have egg yolk in the middle. We eat them while drinking tea, green tea is the best combination.

I miss mooncake so much. Shuv gave me one (all the way from Brunei!) and I kept it on my table for a week. I feel so happy just looking at it everyday. One fine day, I decided to share my happiness with a few lucky friends :)

Lotus Paste with Single Egg Yolk

This is how you cut it: 8 slices

Yum yum~

Good!

Egg yolk in the centre

Shuv and I loving our mooncake moments :D

p/s: I have some pictures with Chris and Huw eating mooncake but I haven't got permission from them to put it up. Too bad loh~

Overwhelmed

I had a great Sunday. I enjoyed walking alone under the sun, enjoying the warmth that I'm so deprived of. The only person whom I want to share this little happiness with is not here. I'd rather be alone, for awhile. Yes, I'm emo-ing. Don't worry, it only happens once in awhile. After the nice warm walk, I'm all myself again, spending 2 hours at Tesco weighing what best to buy >.<

I suppose life's like that, the most unexpected happens and take you by surprise. I thought this will be hard but it doesn't seem as hard as I thought. Yes, I've made plenty of mistakes, I was careless. I may have hurt others on the way and may embarrass myself further very soon. But I've tried my best and that's all I can offer.

Friends play such a great role in my life. I'm always surrounded by somebody at every point of my life, be it school or at work. I suppose I never really had time to reflect as much as I do now. I enjoyed it, though it's quite painful at times, to revive the worse and face them.

I'm so blessed. I've been blessed with the best friends here and at home, best family support, best Bf. I want to thank all of you for being there for me. You gave me the best memories. I promise I'll keep myself happy and merry at all times.

*Hugs*

Shuv's Birthday Dinner @ La Tasca

9th October was Shuv's birthday. We celebrated her birthday at La Tasca yesterday night. La Tasca is a Spanish restaurant located near Lace Market. It's one of Shuv's favourite place and she had her birthday celebration last year at La Tasca as well. It was a great, satisfying dinner and There was so much laughter especially with the wonderful company of Sek Hao, Shu-Vun, Chris and Huw.

The counter on first floor where we were seated

The interior and lighting were yellowish

Comfy pillowed seats, I feel like grabbing one of them XD

This is the ground floor

The bar at ground floor, picture taken from the spiral stairs

Spiral stairs! Me love!

The best company: (clockwise from right back - Sek Hao, Shuv, Chris and Huw)

La Tasca menu

The perfect couple who were responsible for ordering our food that night

Ahhhh...the best wine punch ever!

:q

Below were our Tapas selection:

Meatballs!

Pantatas Bravas: fried potatoes with tomato sauce

Tortilla Espanola: Spanish style omelette

Calamares Andaluza: I've been dreaming about calamari rings since I arrive at Nottingham and there it was!

Albondigas a la Jardinera: Spanish style beef meatballs with tomato sauce

Berenjenas Gratinadas: aubergines topped with cheese and tomato

Our Tapas selection: the white dish on the bottom left corner is Pollo al Ajillo (chicken)

We took pictures while waiting for food. The reason for choosing this picture is because all of us looked nice except for Chris, who didn't like his pictures online. :p

Me the Camwhore, as always.

Paellas: pronouced as "pa-ya-ya!"

Squeezing lemon on it!

This is heavenly!

Yummilicious x 100

Mwah! *kiss*

Cute Shuv (imitating a Heroes character) with Mars muffin given by Chris because she gave him mooncake to try. (Mooncake vs Mars Muffin, I say mooncake wins!)

Passionfruit cheese cake all the way from Loughborough (Sek Hao bought it)!

And we sang Happy Birthday to Shuv...

My piece of cheesecake! Oh, it's so good...there's always space for dessert...

And if you think the night has ended, oh no, you are wrong...It has just begun! We played Cranuim at Shuv's place. Shuv and Sek Hao vs Huw and I. Basically, it's a combination of charades, general knowledge, drawing skills, humming skills and word power.

Da Evil Couple who won me and Huw

I think Huw and I make a good team even though we didn't win :) My best drawing of the day was a mermaid :D He got it right straight away! It was a fantastic evening. It's good to unwind and laugh my heart out after a long week. I'm grateful to have such wonderful friends in Nottingham :)

The best picture taken that evening: Love Forever X-)
