Random Food Pictures

None of the food shown below was my cooking. They were taken at least a month ago. I'm having a terrible sore throat since yesterday. It doesn't hurt no more but my throat is now very dry and itchy. I'm supposed to be eating non "heaty" food but can't help it lah~

I just want to show you the weather here. It's winter now and sometimes, the fog becomes so thick that visibility very poor.

This was Christmas Lunch Special at Taylor's building in the law school. Cost £3.50. My salad was mountain high because they charge me so much and it's only fair that I consume my money's worth of salad.

This was the curry noodles Shuv's bf - Sek Hao made for dinner. So yummy loh! I miss the curry noodles back home~ :q

I bought this from Waitrose when it first open in Nottingham because it was quite cheap. I remember it was about £0.90

My Admiral's pie~ I miss fish so much. It was quite filling though I'd prefer if its portion is bigger.

Tomorrow is grocery, laundry and room cleaning day. I'll be having conference exam next Thursday. I'm actually quite excited about it, I must be out of my mind :o

Muna's 22nd Birthday Boat Party

I was invited to three birthday parties this month. It seems many BVC students were born in the month of January. The first birthday party I'm showing today is Muna's party, which was held in a boat. Yup, boat party!

It was one of my longtime desire to organise or attend a party on a boat so I was quite excited to finally experience it in UK. We took a cab there and it was freezing cold beside the river. That was my first time on a cab in UK btw~

Inside the boat. There's a deck but it's really cold outside.

It was a good night out with the girls (and guys). We took plenty of pictures and danced the night through. I wore Shuv's top again anyway. It's the green one, voted by sis and a couple of friends. But I didn't wear her shoes because it's painful. So, it's my trustworthy trainers with jeans.

The best girl I've met in Nottingham

See, I told you, we camwhored

With Asima on the left, whose birthday party I attended last week.

Us on the deck

They look great in the outfit and shoes

Another Chris, whom I spoke to that night for quite a bit. I know of 4 Chris' in the course now.

Curt from my group

The boys from my group: Miltos (middle) is from Cyprus and he is one hilarious guy :D

Riverside view taken from the deck

The boat moves really slowly

One paparazzi shot of myself

Muna's birthday cake!! It's really huge~

Check it out: there's a pair of shoes and two handbags

I think having a boat party is a nice idea. The only thing that's missing is food. I always think birthday celebrations without food is incomplete :p But it was still a great evening with close friends and making new ones too.

Exams are just round the corner and everybody is cramming in the library preparing for tomorrow's lectures. I should be doing so too. Tata!

To My Family

Today is the day for family reunion. Although sis and I are far away, we may not communicate all the time, but I love my family very very much. Here I am, experiencing life and learning each day, all because of the support of my family. I am truly blessed with such a supportive family.

Despite the challenges we have to face, it's Chinese New Year eve today and I hope we can forget the differences for awhile and celebrate it as one whole family. I love you all and you are always in my prayers.

Thank you very much.

Mariyam's Birthday Part Two @ Yo! Sushi

Yo! Sushi is the only Japanese restaurant I know in Nottingham. We decided to have late lunch with Mariyam after the cake as there was a 40% discount for dishes from the belt. I've been craving for more sushi since the last time I had them in November here. I absolutely pampered my taste buds to the core at Yo! Sushi~ (How I miss Sushi Zenmai back home)

Yo! Sushi~

Same interior as back home!

I love the familiar environment

This was the only time that I was grateful for franchises. I know their food will not be as good as original japanese restaurants and they charge a killer amount for their services. But it made me felt so much at home. For a short while, I thought I was back home, enjoying the evening with friends, eating sushi with warm cups of green tea. I never felt so much at home.

Friends that made Nottingham special (from left: Shuv, me and Mariyam)

Me happily filling up the form for 40% discount

Shuv can't wait for sushi too!

Warning: From here onwards, all the pictures below are food. Do NOT look when hungry!

Bottomless green tea

Mariyam's favourite trio in a row: Vegetable Yakisoba, Pumpkin Korroke and Prawn Katsu

Chicken Yakisoba (sounds like "yucky soba" but actually it's very tasty. Soba = noodles)

Pumpkin korroke

I like the sweet pumpkin taste :D

Prawn Katsu

Say "hi!"

O Salmon sushi, how I miss thee~ (Mariyam, let's try this next time :D)

Squid salad

Edamame (Reminds me of dad because he loves peanuts)

Aubergine (Shuv's favourite)

Yo! Roll

Tamago (we made Mariyam tried this :p It's quite nice, isn't it?)

Seared Beef sushi (I find this more western than japanese)

Eel sushi (Bf's favourite: U.N.A.G.I.)

Mochi (Petaling Street's mochi is still the best! I like pandan and ribena flavour mochi)

"Doraemon's" Dorayaki with custard fillings (My sis loves this very much)

Dip in bright red raspberry sauce :q

There's so much more sushi that I'd love to eat but there ain't any space left in my tummy and I do need to watch over my purse. So there goes. Till next time Yo! Sushi!

Mariyam's Birthday Part One

It was dear Mariyam's birthday yesterday. Shuv and I planned a surprise for her. We've all discussed about going for Yo! Sushi but on top of that, we've decided to bake her a cake. A few days prior to her birthday, I found out that she likes chocolate cakes and so that's what we did.

Shuv and I baked the cake on Tuesday evening. It was a fun thing to do! We also wanted to make brownies but there were not enough baking chocolate left. And I learnt it the hard way that normal eating chocolate are not suitable for baking :p Shuv also got her a pretty necklace, which I thought goes well with her. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of it :(

The first thing we did was concoct a story to make her come up to my place, where the cake was. I told her I needed to show her which dress I would be wearing for the party on Friday and we all came into my room. Then I went out to prepare the surprise cake.

Mariyam caught in surprise :D

The candle went off when I was singing "Happy Birthday" so we did it again in the kitchen :p

Fuh~

The cake just came out fresh from the refrigerator so it was a bit hard to cut

Still cutting...It's not a big cake, just perfect for 4 of us.

Shuv decorated it with colourful sprinklers. Can you see the "M"?

The necklace (sorry for the poor quality, I cropped it from the group pic below). It's really pretty.

This is what I call colour coordination: red, white and black. ^_^
